New season
Made slowly, used daily
ssMerino knits, hand-thrown stoneware and kitchen goods from small workshops. Made to be used every day and kept for year
How a Northwind blanket is made
Four stages, one state, nothing rushed.
Step 1: Fleece from two farms
Wool from two Willamette Valley flocks, bought at a fair price each spring.
Step 2: Spun in Oregon
A family mill in Salem spins it into a soft two-ply yarn, undyed or dyed in small lots.
Step 3: Woven on a 1960s loom
Aiko weaves each throw on a restored Dobcross loom. About three hours a blanket.
Step 4: Finished by hand
Washed, brushed and checked twice before it is folded into tissue and boxed for you.
